It is with great sadness that the family and the Parishioners of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Coniston, announce the sudden death of Msgr. David Thomas Cresswell on Tuesday, June 12th, 2018. He was in his 81st year. Msgr. suffered from heart conditions for several years, but was able to continue his priestly duties in reasonably good health up to, and including, last weekend. Msgr. Dave was predeceased by his parents Jack and Cornelia (Kirwan) Cresswell, brothers Ronald (Vivian) and Gary (Shirley). He is survived by his sisters and brothers Audrey Veno (husband Murray predeceased) of Coniston, Deacon Brian Cresswell (wife Jeanet) of Sudbury, Loreen Boldt (husband Henry) of Kitchener, and Phyllis Blake (husband Norm predeceased) of Sudbury. Monsignor is survived by many nieces and nephews who over the years had spent many good times with their uncle. Msgr. was a great brother, and was always willing and able to be there for his immediate and extended family. He loved his ministry and celebrated 55 years of Ordination in the priesthood this past June 1st. Monsignor will be missed by his family and the many friends he made during his life as a Priest serving the people in so many places and Parishes. Msgr. Cresswell was ordained June 1st, 1963 at Christ the King Church in Sudbury, Ontario, by His Excellency Bishop A. Carter, D.D. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Paul the Apostle Church or the HSN Cardio Program. Funeral Mass in St. Paul the Apostle Church, Coniston Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 at 10am. Interment in the Sudbury Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church from 2-5; 7-9pm Tuesday with prayers at 7:30pm Tuesday. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
