In loving memory of Karl Walter Beck, having passed away at the age of 91 years on Friday, June 8th, 2018 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Aino Beck (Pollanen)(Keminen)(nee Viinikka) predeceased in 2013. Loving stepfather of Seppo (Jim) Keminen (Bev predeceased 2013) of Sudbury, Reijo (Ray) Pollanen of Kitchener, Sirpa (Frank) Duhaime of Wahnapitae, and Erja Birgitta Pollanen of Sudbury. Loving grandfather to Blair (Joanne) Keminen, Christopher Keminen, Curtis (Alana) Pollanen, and Ryan (Susan) Pollanen. Loving great-grandfather to Brooklyn and Taylor Keminen, Olivia Pollanen, and Abigail Pollanen. Beloved son of Eric and Edla Beck both predeceased. Survived by sister Anja Charsley. Predeceased by brother Fred (Dagmar) and sisters Irene (Bill) Hellman and Aune Pardu. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Karl was born in Creighton on May 23rd, 1927, later moving to Wahnapitae with his family. Karl was a quiet man, but enjoyed telling stories from the past, and had a great sense of humour, telling jokes, many with Finnish humour. In his early years, he enjoyed flying solo in a plane. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting with his brother Fred and later with his wife Aino. He worked as a carpenter with Acme for over 40 years. He was very generous with his time in helping family and friends. Karl was very creative in carpentry and working with wood. Some family members were lucky enough to have a piece of his creation. Sunday visits were reserved for a treat of Tim Hortons coffee and Leinala’s pulla and possus. We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Walford on the Park for their loving care and attention. We also would like to thank Dr. deBlacam, Dr. Bilgasum, and Dr. Want for their professional care and support. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call after 11am Monday). Funeral Service in the R. J. Barnard Chapel Monday, June 11, 2018 at 1pm. Cremation with interment in the family plot at Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
