Lavergne, Denis

Surrounded by his loving family, with peace and in dignity Denis left this world Thursday May 31st 2018 at the age of 79 years. Son of the late Wilfrid Lavergne and of the late Florence Lavergne. Beloved husband of Claire Lavergne (née Cholette) of Hanmer. Dear father of Liane Pélissier (Roger) of Hanmer and of Bob « Robert » Lavergne of Val Caron. Sadly missed and much loved Granddaddy of Jason (Samantha), Jamie (Corrine), Jalee, Kayla (Curtis) and Brandon as well as his great-grandchildren Melody and Colton and lovingly remembered by Danielle Lavergne. Also survived by his sisters Julie, Jeanine, Huguette, Emilienne and Margot. Predeceased by his sisters Jacqueline and Pierrette. Special brother-in-law to Louise, John and Michelle. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Also loved by many close friends. Denis was a successful accountant finishing his career at the Caisse Populaire Lasalle. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, council 5005, Hanmer serving as treasurer for many years. He was an avid bowler, and truly enjoyed his Monday Night Men's League for more than 20 years. Denis was a passionate musician having played in several area bands like The Midnighters, Kenny’s Little Combo and The Blue Notes. But his most cherished and proudest accomplishment was his family. To honor his wishes and cherish his memory, the Lavergne family will receive friends for a funeral mass to be held Saturday June 9th, 2018 at 11 am in St. Jacques Church Hanmer, followed by a celebration of his life with musical tributes at St. Jacques Parish Hall, Hanmer immediately after the mass.
