It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Norman Clifton Dawe, November 17th, 1929 - May 31st, 2018. Norm Passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife Leona (Sabourin) by his side. Leona and Norm celebrated 60yrs of marriage on Thursday, May 24th, 2018. A final milestone they both were committed and determined to reach. He was a caring father who supported their son Robert John, through his young busy hockey life and all the ‘adventures’ between then and now. He loved Robert and only wished the very best for him. Norm was the last surviving ‘Dawe’. He was one of 11 children to Daphne and John Dawe (predeceased). He was a God Father, Uncle, Great Uncle and Great Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews from coast to coast. His younger years were spent growing up in Conception Bay and Corner Brooke NFL. He was proud of his heritage, his home town family and friends. He moved to Levack, Ontario in 1954 to work as a miner for Inco until his retirement in 1984. As well as being a dedicated husband and father, Norman was an involved, dedicated member of his community. He was a friend, coach, mentor and an avid sport spectator. A history buff who had a love of reading. His memory was incredible! His hugs where immense, tight and long, you felt his love. Norms sense of humor and laughter was amazing to experience. One really needed to be on high alert during a conversation with him. He had a love of the outdoors enjoying trapping and fishing at Onaping Lake with his dear chums. He dabbled in woodworking, golf and curling. One of his favorite pastimes was to watch his favorite sports on his living room TV, Curling, Golf, Baseball (Blue Jays), Hockey (The Leafs, ONLY because he had to. He loved his wife…). Thank you to the Nurses, PT and OT at HSN for Norms care during his 2 month stay. Thank you to the Care Partners (RN’s and PSW’s) who supported Leona in keeping with Norms wishes to stay at home. Nurse Joanne you are an invaluable member to your team and to our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! To our Family and friends who took time away from their busy lives to help us on this journey. Our final weeks, days could not have been so “calm” if not for all of you. You know who you are. Thank you! Norm was a strong, determined man whom adored his wife and had a deep love and respect for his family and friends. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
