Viljo Ilmari Virtanen, at 92 years, passed away peacefully March 10th, 2018 in Sudbury Ontario, with family by his side. “Chainsaw Willie” loved to laugh and share stories. He was a rebel and a mischief-maker who enjoyed pranks and good fun. He was a master in his craftsmanship and a legendary woodsman. Viljo was deeply respected by his peers for his strength of character and warm welcoming nature. “Pappa V” was the patriarch of his family. He was unwavering in his love and commitment to family and friends. He volunteered his time and talents extensively through the Knights of Kaleva and the Trout Lake Campers Association. Viljo now joins the love of his life, Eila. They were a compliment to one another in life and now reunited, can dance the night away. Husband to Eila (pre-deceased 2016). Father to Kimmo and Ray. Father-in-Law to Liette and Kathy. Pappa to Darcy, Weslin, Ellenita, Maegan, and Miranda. Iso-Pappa to Cadence, Eli and Viljo. Uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Viljo was one of 16 children to Juho & Eva Maria and has an extensive family in Finland. Loved and missed by many. Memorial Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch St, Sudbury Friday, March 16th, 2018 at 2:00pm (Friends may call after 12:30pm Friday) Family is kindly requesting no perfumes or fragrances.
