Sharpe, Patricia

Born January 24, 1940 to Earl and Aino (Manninen) Mumford in Creighton Mine, Ontario. From the age of an infant, Pat enjoyed her summers at the Fairbank lake camp, a mining claim turned into a multi-family compound by her parents. Pat was surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents all summer long. This is where her love and appreciation of nature began. Pat attended Ontario Ladies College and returned home to marry Carmen Sharpe (predeceased) her sweetheart and partner in life for 41 years. They worked together to build a life with 3 children arriving. First Christian, then Mary and finally Jennifer. Pat stayed home in the early years to raise the kids, then in 1972 she went back to school and received her Law Clerk designation. She eventually found her way to become the head law clerk for the City of Sudbury. Carmen and Pat travelled to many places far and wide, Japan, Germany and England. Pat devoted her spare time to many causes, such as Rainbow Routes and the Fairbank Campers Assoc. all with a common theme of nature. She skated, cross country skied, took Tai Chi and loved nature walks, until the onset of Alzheimer’s began to change her independence. Its been a tough 7 years, we have slowly lost Mom to this disease but she always knew who we were and that she was loved. We want to thank her caregivers especially, Heather Hachey, Melanie Ross, the team at Retire at Home and the team at Pioneer Manor for their compassionate care and respect of our mother. Pat is survived by son Christian (Lisa Griffiths), daughters Mary (John Czerwinski) and Jennifer (Christopher Hough), brothers Earl Mumford (Mardi) and Bill Mumford (Betty). Grandchildren Jessica Sharpe, Elizabeth Sharpe, Nathan Hough, Grant Czerwinski, Ryan Hough, Evan Czerwinski and Declan Sharpe. Many nieces, nephews and friends were integral in Pat's life as well. Remembered at this time is Pat's special relationship with Maureen Rupoli (Sharpe) and Melvin Rupoli both predeceased.
