Bourque, J. Lucien

In Loving Memory of Lucien Joseph Bourque Peacefully passed away at Health Science North, his dear family by his side, Sunday March 4th, 2018 at the age of 97 years. Son of the late Philippe Bourque and late Alexandrine (born Rodrigue). Beloved husband of 64 years of marriage to Madeleine (born Bélanger) predeceased. Loving father of Carmen (Jack Huggins), Suzanne, Fernand (Sharon), Gérard all of Sudbury. He will be cherished forever by his 9 grandchildren (Daniel, Will (Bill), Julie-Anne Huggins), (Jeffrey, Gregory, Mélanie Remeikis), Natalie Ferguson, Maya Walton and Lisa Bazinet as well as 10 great grandchildren Zayda, Titus, Abby, Logan, Ellanor, Scarlett, Liam, Layla, Madeline and Zuri. Predeceased by his brothers Hector, Jean-Noël, Jean-Guy, Raymond, Arsène and sisters Simone, Élodia, Annette, Marie-Reine. He will be missed his sisters Jeanne and Janine. Lucien is a WW11 veteran who takes great pride for participating in D-Day June 6, 1944 where he relentlessly fought at Bernière- sur- Mer, in France. After the war, he moved from Quebec and relocated with his wife in Sudbury where he worked as a miner for INCO at Frood Stobie for 36 years. His favorite pastime throughout his life was playing cards and he always delighted in giving anyone a skunk while playing cribbage especially to his son Fern. He will always be remembered as a kind, loving, soft spoken and hardworking father. His children will miss the song singing and storytelling of his childhood in Beauce and the years spent in Europe during the war. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Jackson & Bernard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury Wednesday March 7, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday A funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, March 8th, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the R.J. Barnard Chapel In lieu of flowers donations to Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated. Fils de feu Philippe Bourque et de feu Alexandrine (née Rodrigue). Époux bien aimé de feu Madeleine (Bélanger) et père de Carmen (Jack Huggins), Suzanne, Fernand (Sharon), Gérard tous de Sudbury. Son souvenir restera gravé dans la mémoire de ses 9 petits-enfants (Daniel, Will (Bill), Julie-Anne Huggins), (Jeffrey, Gregory, Mélanie Remeikis), Natalie Ferguson, Maya Walton et Lisa Bazinet et 10 arrière-petits-enfants Zayda, Titus, Abby, Logan, Ellanor, Scarlett, Liam, Layla, Madeline et Zuri. Précédé par ses frères Hector, Jean-Noël, Jean-Guy, Raymond, Arsène et sœurs Simone, Élodia, Annette et Marie-Reine. Il laisse dans le deuil ses sœurs Jeanne et Janine. Lucien a offert librement ses services pendant cinq ans pour défendre son pays en Europe lors de la deuxième guerre mondiale. Revenu au Québec, ce fier vétéran qui débarqua sur les plages de la Normandie le 6 juin, 1944 (D-Day) à Bernière- sur- Mer, épousa Madeleine et tous les deux fondèrent leur foyer à Sudbury Ontario en 1947. Il trouva immédiatement de l’emploi avec INCO et travailla à la mine Frood Stobie pendant 36 ans sans jamais manquer un jour de travail. Lucien aimait bricoler et dans ces moments de loisir, il aimait jouer aux cartes et surtout donner une bonne bibitte au cribe à son fils Fern. Ses enfants garderont un bon souvenir de leur père qui était aimant, accueillant, fier et généreux envers tous. La famille recevra parents et amis au Salon Jackson & Bernard 233 rue Larch, Sudbury Mercredi le 7 mars, 2018 de 14h00 à 17h00 ainsi qu’en soirée de 19h00 à 21h00 et après 10h00 Jeudi. Le service funéraire aura lieu à 11h00 le jeudi matin 8 mars dans la chapelle R.J. Barnard Au lieu de fleurs, des dons à la Maison McCulloch Hospice seraient appréciés.
