With profound sadness we announce the passing of E. Gary Thomson, 71 years old after a valiant fight with Prostate Cancer on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury. Beloved son of late Erle George and Doretta (Garnett) Thomson. Survived by his beloved wife Karen (Petty). Loving father of Travis (Leanne), Erle, Drew and Amanda (Paul Kay). Cherished grandfather of Brett, Owen, Harrison Kay and Alistair Kay. Dear brother in law of Gail Stark (Paul), Lynn Scott (deceased), Jane McQuade (Gary) and Laura-Lee Petty. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, his Uncle Howard Garnett and his circle of friends. Gary loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his grandson’s, and not to forget the times spent for breakfast at the B.S. Table in Capreol’s M&R Grill. He was self employed and travelled extensively through out Northern Ontario putting many kilometers on his vehicles. The family would like to thank the Fourth Floor, North Wing, Palliative Care Unit, the Doctors, Nurses and P.S.W.’s, they were so kind and gentle to my Turtle Dove or Delicate Flower. We would also like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Princess Margaret Hospital for helping Gary. Gary’s Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 7, at the Royal Canadian Legion in Capreol, 16 Young St. from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Prostate Cancer Canada would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd.
