Sylvia Day (nee Travers) of Levack, ON was born on March 18, 1943 in Lark Harbour, NL. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 surrounded by her devoted family. Cherished wife of Richard Day for 56 years. Loving mother to Karen (David), Kim (Richard), Paul (Jennifer) and Susan (George). Beloved Nanny to Carley & Katie, Alexander & Ryan, Tristin, Michael & Thomas. Sylvia came from a large family and leaves behind her siblings Don (Brenda), Hazel (predeceased) (Israel), Ralph (Fronie), James (Sheila), John (Betty), David (Lorraine), Paul (Barbara) and Noreen. Special sister-in-law to Ruby, Nell (Clyde), Marion (predeceased), John (Mary) and Gerald (Donna). An avid knitter who loved to play cards and bingo. She was most happy surrounded by her family, cooking a big meal, playing music and dancing. Sylvia came to Levack in 1971 but never lost her Newfoundland roots surrounding herself with wonderful friends. Sylvia’s family is very thankful for the compassionate and special staff at Extendicare York for their remarkable care. A special Thank You to Dr. Tracy Hayes, a beacon, guiding Sylvia and her family through this difficult journey with the utmost kindness and benevolence. A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held at the family home in Levack this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made by cheque directly to the Onaping Falls Golden Age Club.
