Oliver, D. John

1934 – 2018 We, the family of John, regretfully lost the physical presence of our much loved, husband, father and grandfather. John was born in Kirkland Lake to David and Jenny (Lind). He graduated from Trine University, Angola Indiana in 1959, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Started his career in Elliot Lake, working for Rio Algom at various mines, moved to Garson in 1971 and spent 22 years working at four of the Falconbridge mine sites. This kind, wise, generous man was an avid outdoorsman, loved canoeing, fishing, hunting, skiing, vegetable gardening, and was an accomplished Mr. Fix-it. He travelled extensively throughout his life which included a good part of the country he treasured above all others- CANADA! Left to mourn his loss but lucky beneficiaries of his love, wisdom and knowledge are his beloved spouse of 54 years, Faye (Wilson), his son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Carrie (Porttila), his daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Chip Richter, four wonderful grandchildren, Lauren and Dawson Oliver, Tia and Brody Richter.
