Hi Sparky, Francis, Ramon, Eddie, and Sheri: Sorry to know about the passing of Cecil. He spent ninety six wonderful years in this earth and touched the lives of numerous people whom he associated with. However, parting with loved ones is the most difficult process in life. I offer you all my condolences and pray that God comfort and guide you through this sad time. It was a privilege to know both Catherine and Cecil. They were gracious host and hostess while Chris and I visited them in Sudbury. I enjoyed walking with Cecil on English Bluff Road in the morning when he came to Vancouver for a visit. We stopped to admire the scenery of the bluff at Fred Gingel Park. We always had a good time gathering at the dinner table. We'll all miss him and may he rest in peace in God's care Warmest Regards, Sylvia

I am sorry to hear of Mr. Blackwell’s passing. He was my first principal when I attended Haileybury Public School in the early 70’s. He was always very kind. I remember being sent to his office for some infraction when I was 5 or 6 and was terrified. Instead of punishing me he sat me up in the big chair in his office and gave me a lollipop. We chatted while I ate the candy and I promised to be good. I never forgot that.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends in the passing of Cecil. He was a special individual, a very special and dedicated teacher whom I held in highest esteem. To anyone who had him should consider themselves fortunate. I was blessed to have him as my grade seven teacher. He was the one who really encouraged me to continually learn new things,to always pursue your goal and your dreams. He had a fierce desire for neat and beautiful penmanship. He used to have me do writing for him on some of his projects. Even now I pride my penmanship which developed due to his encouragement. Always took enjoyment in listening to him play the bagpipes and to see his love for them and his pride of the kilt and attire. He was truly a very dedicated teacher. I am positive he impacted many in his encouragement and enthusiasm for learning and in living. He will be missed.
