It is with broken hearts that Nathalie and I announce the passing of our amazing husband and father Claude Giroux at the young age of 62. Claude died on January 2nd 2018 at the Ottawa General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Claude was the loving husband and soulmate of Nicole Giroux (née Pitre) for the last 35 years. He was an amazing father to Serge (pre-deceased 1985-2002) and Nathalie Lawrence and son-in-law Michael of Ottawa. He is survived by his loving parents Raymond and Florence (Aubin) Giroux & his siblings: Andy - wife Lorraine, Éveline - husband Ian McCallion, Robert - wife Kim and sister-in-law Connie. He was pre-deceased by his brother Ron (2012). He was loved by his in-laws: Ronald and Noëlla Pitre, Richard - wife Monique, Daniel -wife Léah, and Denis - wife Jo Anne. He will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews : Derek (Sylvie..Daniel&Stéphane) Eric (Melissa..Caleb), Denis (Danika), Rick, Tina (Joe), Alain (Jennifer.. Désirée, Alex, Sarah), Robert Jr., Annie (Leo), Sophie (Josh), Mathieu, Jessica and Derek on the Giroux side, and Matthieu (Sarah), Marty (Katie..Kaleb & Logan), Luc (Michaella), Justin, Eric, Keegan, Kelsey and Kaelyn on the Pitre side. Claude retired in 2014 after 35 years of dedicated service as a youth probation officer. He was an elected member of the CSPGNO (French public school board) since 2000. He was a dedicated family man, always ensuring that his loved ones were taken care of. Claude was also an avid outdoorsman - happiest when spending time with his family at camp, or while hunting and fishing. He was also passionate about history and genealogy. While he will be gravely missed by all, we find comfort in knowing that his suffering has come to an end and that he may now rest peacefully in heaven next to his beloved son. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday January 13th, 2018 at 1 pm at Ste. Marguerite d'Youville church in Val Thérèse. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Claude & Serge Giroux Scholarship fund (through Nicole Giroux) or to the Movember campaign for men's health would be greatly appreciated.
