In Loving Memory Of Jean Rudolphe Leon Desilets 95 years who passed away at Pioneer Manor on January 4th, 2018. Beloved husband of Simone Desilets (nee Gagnon) (predeceased April 1971). Cherished father of Pierre Desilets (special friend Lynda Harper). Survived by grandchildren Casey and Liam (mother Heather Smith.) Dear son of Walter Desilets and Louisa Gareau (both predeceased). Treasured brother of Walter, Leo, Roland, Joffre, Romeo, and Juliette (all predeceased). He was born in Capreol, Ontario on September 7th, 1922 and was the second youngest sibling. He went to Capreol Public School, Capreol high school for one year then attended St. Michael’s College in Toronto where he played football and hockey. He enlisted in the R.C.A.F in 1941 and was assigned to bomber command in Yorkshire, England. During rest periods he played hockey in Scotland. He was discharged in September 1945. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion and War Pensioners of Canada. After the war he was employed by the C.P.R in Sudbury where he worked for 15 years then with Mutual Life of Canada. He played old timers hockey and even played a year with the Sudbury Senior Wolves. He was an avid volunteer and was Past President of the John Howard Society in Sudbury, Past President of the Sudbury Underwriters, a member of the Canadian Association of Retired People, and member of the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club for close to 40 years. He strongly supported the Arthritis Society and Canadian Cancer Society. A very special thank you with love to the Nurses and Personal Support Workers at Pioneer Manor as well as to the dedicated Doctors, Nurses, Personal Support Workers at Health Sciences North 4th floor North Wing and emergency room. Memorial Dinners are being contemplated in Sudbury and Ottawa in the following months. Donations to the Arthritis Society would be greatly appreciated.
