In loving memory of James Henry Lawrence Waddell born in Sudbury, Ontario on June 25, 1955. Passed away December 31, 2017 at the age of 62. Proud father (mother Phyllis Schwager) of Samantha (Jonah Sherman), Aidan, and Connor Waddell. Son of Gervis William Waddell (predeceased 2007) and Ellen Josephine Caswell McKessock Waddell (predeceased 1985). Brother of Don (predeceased 2011) (Mary), Bob (Bonita Groulx), Reg (Diane Waddell) and Judy (Gord Angeloff). James was a bright, talented, and well-spoken man. He started his professional career as a business consultant; his sharp analytical skills allowed him to quickly assess how a business ran and find ways to make things run more efficiently. He loved this job because of the opportunity it presented to travel and explore new cities across North America. Once he started his family, however, he wanted to be closer to home. So, he chose self-employment and began investing in the real estate market, first in Toronto and later in Sudbury. James loved playing golf and would take every chance he had to get out on the links. When he wasn’t on the greens, he took great pleasure in watching an array of sports on TV. He was an avid reader and acquired vast knowledge on a range of topics, particularly politics. He relished discussing political issues of the day and always had a strong, well defended opinion. Some of his fondest memories were of summers spent at John Island, his time living abroad in Europe with his family, travelling around the globe and sampling all sorts of exotic foods. Closer to home, he truly loved motoring down Highway 69, doing the drive from Sudbury to Toronto while listening to his favorite tunes. Though he lived much of his life in Toronto, he always thought of Sudbury as “the centre of the universe” and was enormously proud of his home town. He will be missed and remembered by many.
