It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel (Danny) Horeck at 91 years of age on Monday, January 1, 2018. Danny was one of 8 boys born to John and Dolcea. The boys were raised in Capreol where they found their love of hockey. Several of the brothers went on to play professional hockey Danny included. This brought him to the US where his brother Peter played for the Chicago Blackhawks and Danny played for the Illinois Blades. The Elmhurst Golf and Country Club in Chicago became his new career path where he met his wife Dorothy. They married and had one son, Daniel John Horeck. They, as a family, moved back to Canada to be able to spend more time at their property on Birch Lake. In 1982, Dorothy lost her battle with leukemia. Danny continued managing the Croation Centre until his retirement. He spent his retirement tending to his cottage every summer. You could always find him somewhere on the property with a pick axe in one hand and the wheelbarrow not far off. Danny lived a very long life and was always content sitting on the porch watching the world go by. At Danny’s request, there will be no Funeral Service or Memorial Service. Arrangements entrusted to Ranger’s Cremation and burial Services Ltd. Online condolences can be posted at www.RangersSudbury.com.
