Absent from the body, present with the Lord in his 99th year. Nelson peacefully went to be with his dear Lord and Savior in the early hours of December 31st. He was a man of great faith, a loving husband and a devoted father of 10 children. Beloved husband of Frances (Byrnes) predeceased in 1999. Loving father of Jerry (Betty), Judy predeceased, Don (Patricia), Brenda (Ron) Rafuse, Brian predeceased, Wayne (Karen), Wendy (Wayne Crawford) both predeceased, Peggy (Lonny) Parker, Sherry (Phil) Jackson, Keith (Tina). Grandpa will be missed by 17 grandchildren. Nancy (Patrick), Kurt predeceased, Jamie (Cindy), Jason (Natalie), Jordan (Joy), Lori (Kevin), Tammy (Rob), Crystal predeceased, Trina (Renee), Clayton, Jennifer (Mike), Melissa (David) Lonny (Amanda), Amanda, Adam (Tiff), Brayden (Katie), Carlyn. Also missed by 15 great-grandchildren. Kelsey (Stephen), Nathan, Briana (Dominic), Samantha (Alex), Preston, Avery, Kaitlyn, Emma, Victoria, Gregory, Rebecca, Vanessa, Macey, Clara, Rylee. Son of the late George and Annie Lewis. Brother of Nettie (Lloyd) Mohns. Predeceased by 10 siblings. Walter, Herb, Bill, Martha, Lorney, Mabel, Mary, Lily, Welly, Arthur. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nelson was born and raised in Pembroke and left there to join Inco in 1941, retiring in 1974. He served in the Canadian Navy during WWII. He was co-owner of Vermillion River Campsite and a volunteer driver for the Red Cross. Nelson was a father his family was very proud of and he supported each of them in their endeavors, leaving them with too many memories to list. Nelson was one of the founding members of Larchwood Bible Chapel where he attended and served 60+years. On his behalf the family would like to thank the caring staff at Extendicare York. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or Canadian Bible Society. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch street, Sudbury. Friends may visit Thursday, January 4th, 5-8 P.M., January 5th, 11 A.M. followed by a service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel at 12:30 P.M. Reception to follow. Interment at Maplecrest Cemetery in Dowling at 3 P.M.
