In loving memory of Evelyn Powers, born March 29, 1929 in Owen Sound Ontario passed peacefully at HSN in Sudbury Ontario November 14, 2017. Daughter of the late Robert Walker and Elsie Walker (nee Petty). Married to John Sherwood Powers for 53 years predeceased in 2001. Loving mother of Robert (Joan) Powers, David (Estelle) Powers, Penny (Mickey) Bernier, Richard (Debbie) Powers, Bruce (Patricia) Powers, Michael (Kelly) Powers and predeceased by infant son Michael Stephen Powers. Dearest sister of Rosalie (late Dave) Onclin, Donald (Annabelle) Walker. Dear sister in law of John (late Marjorie) MacDonald. Predeceased by her siblings Alfred Walker, John (Velma) Walker, William (Maye) Walker, Robert Earl (Marion) Walker, Albert (Mae) Walker, Hazel Walker, Louise (Alfred) Larsden, Elsie (Edward) Taylor, Edith (Keith) Ferguson. Predeceased by her parents in law William and Mary Powers also of Owen Sound. Her in-laws Sadie (Carl) Struke, Ruth (Hugh) Campbell, Margaret (Frank) Deardon, Earl (Donna) Powers, James (Betty) Powers. Cherished grandmother of Genevieve Powers, Michael (Stephanie) Bernier, Robert (Josee)Bernier, Christopher (Tracy) Powers, Katherine Ann (Josh) Davey, David Powers, Stephen Powers, Timothy (Yvonne) Powers, William Powers, Victoria Powers. Beloved ""GG"" to her great grandchildren Aiden, Jordyn, Lila, William, Alissa, Michael and Everett. Greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was a kind and caring person. A devoted mother and wife, a loving sister and friend. A terrific travelling companion to her best friend her daughter. Evelyn loved to take care of people and did so all her life. She was famous for her homemade apple pies. In her younger years she loved to dance and go to parties, she also liked to spend time at the family camp on summer weekends. She loved to sit on her back deck and watch the squirrels and Blue Jays fight over the peanuts. She loved her flowers and enjoyed her backyard. There was always a cold beer or a glass of wine ready for company. Evelyn was a fantastic knitter in her day and created beautiful things for her children and grandchildren. She was artistic and self-education and an avid reader and always encouraged her children and grandchildren to get an educated... that was important to her. She loved doing crosswords they were her passion and fell in love with the iPad in later years. It kept her up-to-date on the family news, pictures and events. She lived a life filled with love and friendship. Evelyn was born in Owen Sound, Ont. where she met and married our father and will be laid to rest there with her husband of 53 years. At Evelyn’s request, there will be cremation will visitation or service at this time. If desired, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
