In Loving Memory of Edda Ongarato (nee Zilio) Who passed away peacefully on November 7, 2017 at Maison McCulloch Hospice at the age of 85. Loving mother of Marcia Lalande (Jeanno) of Espanola and Robert Ongarato (Barb) of Whitefish. Proud Nonna of Erica Collins (Dion), Andrew, Tyler Campbell-Gainsbury (Mike), Ryley and Autumn and Bisnonna to Oliver Collins. Edda was the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Geltruda (Casagrande) Zilio of Copper Cliff and wife of the late Mario Ongarato (2000). Dear sister of Lino Zilio (Judi) and the late Roland Zilio (2014). Dear aunt of John Zilio (Cynthia) and Colleen Zilio (Perry). As well as relatives here, she leaves behind relatives in Italy and Australia. Edda devoted her life to her family. Her children and grandchildren were her true joy. She was a quiet and private woman with great inner strength and faith. Truly selfless, she always placed the needs of family and friends before her own. She will also be remembered as an excellent cook. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and volunteers at the hospice for their care and compassion. In keeping with Edda’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home. Donations can be to Maison McCulloch Hospice.
