In Loving Memory of Urgel Alphonse Gratton September 30, 1929- October 29, 2017 He was 88 years old. Died peacefully in his sleep after a long battle with Prostate Cancer. Surrounded by his wife of 62 years Diane (nee Parent) Gratton. His daughters Lise (nee Gratton) Charbonneau husband John of North Bay and Gisele Gratton of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Todd Gratton of Sudbury, Crystal Lebreton (Robert Caterina) of Burnaby, B.C, Renee (nee Lebreton) Mitchell (Todd) of Ottawa, Janessa Lebreton (Calvin Cook) of North Vancouver B.C., Janelle Lebreton (Nick Pantelone) of Ottawa. Beloved great grandfather of Tessa-Rose Gratton, Darion Gratton and Isaac Lebraton Cook. Will be missed by his surviving siblings Marcel Gratton, Mariel (nee Gratton) Bradley, Armande (nee Gratton) Quenville. He is predeceased by his parents Polidor and Hosanna (nee Leduc) Gratton and predeceased by his brothers Fernand Gratton and Clement Gratton, his sisters Claudette (nee Gratton) Sawyer and Micheline (nee Gratton) Karchie. His first job was as a young child working with his dog and a sleigh bringing water from the Witson Creek in Chelmsford and filling up barrels for various customers for $.10 a barrel. At 15 he worked for the CPR as an Extra Gang. He was able to save money to buy a dump truck and start to work as a contractor with it. Eventually he was able to get employed at INCO where he worked at the Smelter and Pump Room for 22 years. He retired at 55 and did his favourite hobbies which were gardening, camping and fishing to his hearts content. Memorial Visitation at the Cooperative Funeral Home 4691 Regional Road 15 Chelmsford, Ontario on Saturday November 4th, 2017 from 11:00 A.M.- 1:00P.M In lieu of Flowers, donations to Prostate Cancer Canada would be greatly appreciated.
