In Loving Memory Of Muriel Ethel Sutherland (nee Carnagie) 101 ½ years. Peacefully, Friday, October 27th, 2017 at Finlandia Village Sudbury. Beloved wife of William Sutherland predeceased 1971. Loving mother of Gary Sutherland (Mary predeceased), Carl (Ritva) Sutherland, Linda (Peter) Elliott), Donald (Cecile) Sutherland, David Sutherland, Kevin (Lynne) Sutherland and also raised her granddaughter Aurora (Douglas Pearson). Cherished grandmother of Deirdre (Calvin) Nowicki, David (Teresa) Sutherland, Colleen Roberts (Darren Bliss), (and their mother Louise and Dave Galley), Derek Sutherland, Krista Sutherland, Michael (Terri-Lyn) Elliott, Jennifer (Tom) Warden, Douglas (Reselyn) Sutherland, Angela Sutherland, Stacey (Steve) Haefner, James Sutherland, Shawn (Mia) Sutherland, and great-grandchildren Melissa Nowicki, Steven (Christina) Nowicki, James, Amalia, Tena, Gabriel and Michael Sutherland, Hannah and Avery Roberts, Rainy and Winter Elliott, Logan Pearson, Allison Sutherland, Bronson and Ada Haefner, Brooklyn and Luke Sutherland, and one great-great- grandson Owen Elliott-Hegarty. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Christina Carnagie and her siblings Edith, Russell, Grant, Arthur, Lindsay, Lydia, Eunice, Wallace, Lottie and Ida. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Muriel was an accomplished knitter having knitted for two local wool shops specializing in her creation of Angora animal sweaters as well as afghans and baby sets. Her needlepoint pictures were magnificent creating a special one for each child and grandchild. She was an excellent cook and baker whose bread was legendary and cakes made birthday very special. She travelled extensively with senior tours. She enjoyed socializing with her friends downtown over a cup of coffee. A longtime member of Knox Presbyterian Church where she had been active in the congregation ministries and fellowship. Muriel was devoted to her family. The light of her life will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Service in the Lougheed Funeral Home 252 Regent St., at Hazel St. Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium Friends may call 2-7 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday In lieu of flowers, donations to Finlandia Village SISU Foundation or charity of choice would be appreciated.
