It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Catherine Nancy Winstanley at Extendicare Falconbridge on September 14th, 2017. Born in Llandudno, North Wales, United Kingdom on January 16th, 1935 to Anne Humphreys (predeceased 1955) and John Dugard Humphreys (predeceased 1941/WW2 Solider). Loving sister of Ronald Dugard Humphreys (predeceased 1968). Former wife (divorced) of Anthony Hall (predeceased). Mother of Michael Hall (wife Lauralee, children Kurtis and Kerrianne) and Dorothy Anne Hall Forsythe (husband Ian Forsythe, sons Sean & Taylor and daughter Megan). Granddaughter of Anne Winstanley (predeceased) and James Winstanley (predeceased). Catherine was raised from age 6 to adulthood by her mother Anne and material grandparents Anne & James. It was from James that Catherine acquired a strong sense of social activism and charity. Catherine was the only member of her family who immigrated to the colonies (ie. Canada). She will be greatly missed by her extended family in Wales and England. On September 14th, 1933, Catherine was struck by a car and thrown to the pavement. She suffered a brain injury which presented itself as premature Dementia and/or Alzheimer’s, hence Catherine’s understanding and sympathy for people coping with injuries. Catherine you go to a better place where human frailties will no longer plague you and you will be reunited with your loved ones who have gone before you. Catherine will be greatly missed by her “uncommon-law” husband Frank. It has been a privilege to know her extraordinary love and kindness and witness her amazing, selfless generosity epitomized by these words “Their need was great than mine”. Dearest Nenemoosha, My sweetheart, my darling, my love, in the cathedral of my heart a candle will always burn brightly for you. God bless you for being you, dearest Lady Catherine. There will be no visitation or service. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to V.O.N or Big Sisters would be really appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.
