Price, Harvey 'Clayton'

In loving memory of our dear father, Harvey (Clayton) Price 98 years. Clayton passed away peacefully on September 5, 2017 at Maison McCulloch Hospice, Sudbury surrounded by his children. Beloved husband of Bertha (May) Price (predeceased June 29, 2009). Loving father of Gloria Meredith (Dave Wallbaum) of Nanaimo, B.C., Marilynn Page of Courtney, B.C., Cheryl Brown (predeceased), Barrie (Diana), Bonnie Moxam (Dennis), Gwen (Rick Lavoie), and Janice (Eric Loney), all of Sudbury. Clayton was born in Perreten in the Township of Westmeath, Ontario on May 12, 1919 to Dalton and Elizabeth Price (predeceased). Dear brother to Vern (predeceased), Oren (predeceased), William (predeceased), Fred (predeceased), Enid, Eleanor (predeceased), John (predeceased), Gordon (predeceased), Eric, Ruth, and Ralph (predeceased). Dear grandfather of Kelly, Tracey, Samantha, Barry, Cindy, Lisa, George, Allan, Dara, Keith, Derek, Amanda, Keenen, Caitlin and Ian. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Clayton also leaves behind his beloved Border Terrier, Allie, who was by his side throughout his illness. Clayton met May, the love of his life, while he was working in B.C. and the couple settled in Sudbury so that he could pursue a career in hard-rock mining. A selfless and hardworking man, Clayton always put the needs of his family first. Clayton and May spent many happy years wintering in Florida, regularly competing in shuffleboard tournaments. Clayton was also an accomplished euchre player and an active member of Branch 76 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Clayton was loved by many. He was a generous soul, a storyteller, a talented carpenter, and the very definition of a gentleman. In his later years, he was known for his gifts of homemade bread and pickled beets. We wish to thank our many friends and family for their warm support of hugs and food that helped us through this difficult time. We also wish to thank Dr. Peter Bayly, and the health care providers from North East LHIN and Bayshore HealthCare. We especially want to thank Pam Charrier for her many years as Clayton’s home helper - he cherished their time together. We also want to thank everyone that provided gentle and compassionate care for Clayton at the Maison McCulloch Hospice. They all truly made Clayton’s last days peaceful and dignified. Visitation will take place at Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Friday, September 8, 2017, where friends may call from 11:30am – 2:00pm, with a Legion service at 1:30pm. A gathering will follow at Branch 76 of the Royal Canadian Legion, 1533 Weller Street, Sudbury at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice in memory of Clayton would be greatly appreciated.
