EDNA BAILEY (nee Kelly), passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre on Monday, September 4th, 2017, in her 94th year, with family by her side. Predeceased by her loving husband, Cecil, in 2008. Beloved mother of Glen (Colleen) of Wellington, Stephen (Cheryl) and Janet McGarry (Dan) both of Sudbury, and Kevin of Dundas. Proud grandmother of Trevor, Jeffrey (Samantha), Gregory (Andraya), Christopher (Ardyn), and Emily (Jamie). Cherished great-grandmother of Daphne. Sister of the late Edward, the late Ernest, the late Charles, Anne (Smail), the late Helen, Alec (Judith), the late Rosana, the late Fraser (Joan), the late Wilfred (Eleanor), Abraham (Phyllis), and Mary (Terry). Edna was a very dedicated member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 70 years, and was also a founding member of the Church of the Ascension in Sudbury. Her particular way with numbers was a valuable asset amongst her family, her church, her sorority group, and anyone who knew her. Edna passed along her strength of character, generosity, determination, humour, wisdom, and philosophies to all who knew her, and we are all the better for it. She was also known for her passion for cooking, and feeding her family and friends. The family graciously thanks Mom’s very special friend, Janet Mills, for her devotion and friendship – we know Mom loved you beyond words. The family also thanks Bishop Anne Germond – you have been an inspiration and invaluable support to our mother for many years. The family gratefully acknowledges and thanks the staff of St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre and the Westmount Retirement Residence, both of which demonstrated respect, caring, and compassion while she was in their care. Visitation to be held in the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, where friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday only. Funeral Service to be held in the Church of the Ascension, 1476 Sparks Street, Sudbury, Saturday, September 9th, 2017 at 10am. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the Church of the Ascension or to Diabetes Canada, Sudbury Chapter.
