In loving memory of David Van Dyke June 8 1955- August 29 2017. It is with a heavy heart that Jan announces the sudden passing of Dave. Cherished husband of Janet Van Dyke (nee Skinner). Loving son of Mary and Robert (Dec 29, 2016). Cherished brother of Albert (Phyllis), Cor (Cherryl), Bob (Anne), Joy (Jake) Veenstra and Annamarie (Larry) Eisses and brother-in-law of Stephanie Pitt (Denis), Mary Jean Julien (2005) and Christine Skinner (Dan Lahaie). Special uncle to 20 nieces & nephews and 35 grand nieces & nephews. Dave was employed as a shipper receiver at Bargain Harolds before his retirement in 1994. Even with his visual challenges Dave enjoyed life! He was an avid Ham radio operator VA3 NCS and was very active with the United Way and CNIB. Dave was an accomplished skier. He competed in loppets with sighted skiers in Algonquin Park and represented Canada in the 1988 Paralympics in Oslo. In the summer months he enjoyed his backyard ponds & gardens, tandem cycling and good times at camp at Lake Penage. He is sadly missed by his faithful furry companions Tinker, Ruby, Pearl, Zumba, Zoe, Odie, Oshi and feathered friends Charlie and Willy and reunited with Vars. Please come and celebrate Dave’s short but meaningful life at the Church of the Ascension, 1476 Sparks Street, Sudbury 1 pm Friday September 1, 2017.
