Raymond Ernest Blais, age 69, died of a heart attack on July 14, 2017 in Sudbury, Ontario. He was a loving and proud father to his only daughter Kari (Mike), and grandfather to his two grandchildren. Ray leaves behind his brother Marcel and was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Exyst Blais. He was born in Hamilton, grew up in Chelmsford and spent most of his life in the Sudbury area. He had a passion for animals, particularly his dogs, Stretch and Max, and more recently his three cats. He enjoyed being outdoors on the farm, fishing, hunting and country music. Ray was a dedicated hard worker in the refrigeration and air conditioning trade. He was a skilled tradesman and craftsman who enjoyed wood working and home renovations. While life was not easy for Ray and, he was fighting a difficult battle of mental illness, he was always generous to others and had a warm heart and a memorable laugh. He sought comfort in his faith and the church. Special thank you to the many caring people in Ray’s life that continued to try and support him during these difficult times. He will be remembered for his generosity, smile and for the love and pride he had for his daughter and grandchildren. A quote was found in his which reflects what he would have wanted us to remember: “Of all the things we make in our life memories are the most important”. Remember the healthy and joyous moments in Ray’s life and the generosity and warmth he displayed to many. A celebration of life will occur at a later date for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Mental Health Association or The Pet Save in Sudbury. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home.
