Poland-Maizuk, Eugenia 'Jenny' (Curlook)

In loving memory of Eugenia (Jenny) Poland-Maizuk (nee Curlook), who passed away with loved ones at her side on Friday, March 24, 2017, at the age of 86. Born in Coniston to William and Stephania Curlook (predeceased), Jenny was a loving and devoted mother who was cherished by her children Carol-Ann Carbone (Rino), Patrick, Danny (Sharon) and Shawn (Judy). She was the much loved ‘Baba’ to Trevor, Scott, Blaire, Chelsea, Graham, Siobhan, Juney and Nash. Dear sister to Del Finlay (George), Walter Curlook (Jennifer), Morris Curlook (Clair Marie, Helen) all pre-deceased, and Mary Santi (Dino, predeceased). Loving cousin to Mary Cloutier. Jenny was also blessed with two happy and successful marriages, first to Patrick Poland (predeceased 1995), which produced four children and a life surrounded by loving family and friends; and then later, Joseph Maizuk (predeceased 2014) who introduced her to the great northern outdoors and yes, believe it or not, fishing. Always elegant, Jenny will be remembered for many things, whether twirling across Sudbury’s dance floors, tending to her immaculate garden, supporting her favourite charities, or power-walking in Sudbury’s south end. Jenny was a long-serving volunteer with a number of community organizations, including the Ukrainian Professional and Business Club, the Sudbury Ukrainian Senior’s Centre, and St. Patrick’s Church, all of which benefitted from her many talents and her tireless volunteerism, compassion and energy. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. (Friends may call on Tuesday, March 28, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday). Funeral Mass of Celebration will take place at St. Patrick’s Church, 39 Walford Road, on Wednesday, March 29, at 10 a.m.. Cremation with interment in the family plot at St. John’s Cemetery, Garson. Donations may be made in Jenny’s memory to the Pat J. Poland Memorial Bursary at Laurentian University.
