Miles, A. Lawrence 'Larry'

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence “Larry” Adry Miles at 78 years of age on the 14 day of March 2017. Larry was born in Fife Lake, Saskatchewan on April 29, 1938 to parents Wilhelmina and Lawrence Miles Sr., and siblings Dolly Shea, Harold Miles (predeceased) and Gordon Miles (Predeceased). As a young man with endless possibilities, he found himself living in Sudbury, Ontario and attended Sudbury Technical High School where he also met his lifelong partner Karyl Eleanor Henry. They married May 31st 1958 at Holy Redeemer Church in Sudbury. He followed his dreams of completing his certified Mechanics course and started a family. They would go on to have six children over 10 years and he also became a successful business man in various enterprises. He and his brother Harold opened Miles Motors/Shell in their early years and remained in business for the next 20 years, they also briefly owned Fairbanks Resort. He would eventually sell that and venture into L&M Motors and Barrydowne Taxi. Larry had a great love for dogs and spent many years competing with his German Shepherds in CKC Obedience Trials. Larry retired from business in 2001 where he put his energies into his beautiful home in Wahnapitae and cottage on Manitoulin Island. Sadly and suddenly, in 2002 he had to say goodbye to Karyl. With declining health and spirit, he eventually sold his home and took up residence at Extendicare. He fought an amazing battle over the course of the last few years as his tenacity and wit gave him strength. Even when faced with death, he did not give up or give in easily. He will be sadly missed and always loved by his children Tracy Melanson (John), Jodey Miles-Dubois (William), Jeff Miles (Kim), Kelly Miles, Derek Miles (Wendy Dittburner) and Monica Miles (Mitch Loiselle) Forever treasured by his grandchildren Darryl, Chad, Trevor, Corissa, Jenna, Anna, Cody, Jordon, Nathan, Sara, Amber and Raymond. Forever in the hearts of his Great Grandchildren Tyson, Karson, Taylor, Halo, Miah, Kaylie and Braydon (predeceased). Lovingly remembered by sister in laws Shirley Miles, Gail Henry-Smith and many, many nieces and nephews. He will be reunited with the love of his life in holy eternity as burial will take place on his wedding anniversary May 31, 2017 and a Memorial Mass at Holy Redeemer Church at 11am followed by the interment at Civic Memorial Cemetery at 12:45pm. A Celebration of Life will also be held by the family at his home of many years in Wahnapitae on June 3, 2017. Everyone who wishes to attend and reminisce is welcome. Please feel free to contact the family or Lougheed’s for further details. The family wishes to express much appreciation and thanks for the excellent care he received at Extendicare York/Falconbridge. Your kindness will forever be remembered.
