Love, Rita (De Stefano)

Rita Love (De Stefano) 1915-2017 passed away peacefully in her 102nd year on Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury with family at her side and in their loving thoughts. Rita was born and raised in Copper Cliff, Ont where she had many friends and loved to ski, skate, play baseball and badminton. She was always a business woman, whether as a department head for Eaton’s or in business with her husband Pearl (deceased 1982) in Love's General Store (Minnow Lake) .She worked in retail most of her life. Rita was a wonderful volunteer giving time to war time charities and serving the community as CWL President for St Andrew the Apostle Parish. She always had her home open to friends and family and was renowned for her apple and blueberry pies (which she loved to pick). Rita had much love for her girls and pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren. She loved spending time in Liz's garden every year and loved tending all the flowers and veggies. Rita is survived by her daughters and son in laws. Carolyn Little (Alan) of Oakville, Liz Nichols (George) of Sudbury. Special Nanny to Jeffrey Little (wife Allison Mes) of Toronto, Sarah Nichols ( husband Frank Lapierre) Ayr, Carly Nichols (partner Alex) of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Sister-in-law Irene Morrison (Bill) of Falconbridge. Much loved Aunt Rita to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Pearl Love. Parents Anthony and Rosemarie De Stefano, Step father Peter Travaglini. Siblings John De Stefano(Jewel) Mary Mazucca (Joseph),Angelo DeStefano (Bianca), Frank DeStefano (Anne), Nicholas DeStefano (Marie), Step siblings Louis Travaglini (Vi),Beech Travaglini (Marie), Josephine (Pep) McMullen. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Rita's life will take place when the spring garden is in bloom on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 in the R. J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury at 11:30am. Friends may call after 11am Many thanks and appreciation to all the Doctors, Nurses, and Support workers a Health Sciences North, 8th Floor for the wonderful attention and special kindness shown to our mother in her final days.
