Leadbeater, B. Herbert

Herbert Burton Leadbeater (Bert) passed away on the 11th of November, 2016 at Health Sciences North with loving family by his side. Bert was born on December 17th 1931 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia to Ella and Ben Leadbeater both deceased, the youngest of 13 children. He grew up in New Glasgow, attended grade school then started work at a young age in the coal mines, where life wasn't easy. He was raised by his eldest sister Jessie. Bert always had a great love and fondness for Nova Scotia. He later relocated to the Sudbury area where he met the love of his life Donna while skating at the Sudbury Arena. They had three children and settled and lived in Dowling for many years. He retired from Falconbridge Nickel Mines 25 years ago. Having a long retirement together with Donna where they spent some winters on the Gulf Coast of Florida and spent falls in the mountains of North Carolina. Bert leaves behind Donna married for 59 years. Eldest daughter Lee and son-in-law Doug Wilson of Durham North Carolina, son Mark and daughter-in-law Catherine Leadbeater of Sudbury and youngest daughter Corey and son-in-law Brian Paul of Sudbury. Bert's suffering is over. A light heavy weight boxer in his youth, he gave heart failure his best fight. He will always be strong, courageous and proud in his family’s eyes. Always ready with a smile and seeing the bright side of what life brings, with an easy going manner. You will be missed very much in our lives. Bert had a love for animals, large and small. He had many ""grand pets"" who loved those treats hiding in his coat pocket. He also had a love for Tim Horton's coffee and the comradery of the friends he met there. Bert led a simple life and loved nothing more than sitting with Donna on the back deck appreciating his yard and admiring nature. You will be missed as a dad, husband and friend. The family would like to thank the caring and sensitive nursing staff and PSW's on the 5th and 8th floors of HSN. Your help and attention to Bert's comfort and needs were always noticed and appreciated. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
