Richer, Rena (Landry)

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness for the family to announce Rena’s passing at the age of 78 in Sudbury with her loved ones at her side. Rena was one of twelve children of predeceased parents Christina (Chaput) and Felix Landry. Beloved wife of Rudy Richer for 59 years. Devoted mother of Monique LeBreton (Daniel) of Val Caron , Nicole Blais (Maurice) of Hanmer, Daniel of Hanmer, Charles (Darlene) of New Brunswick, and Michael Gouchie (Nancy) of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Christina (Mike Case) of Val Caron, Daniella LeBreton (Dan Leroy) of Val Caron, Allen Benson of Toronto, Matthew Benson of Cambridge. From New Brunswick; Jason Hayden (wife Alita and two boys Jordan and Chase) and Sheena Caissie. From Ottawa; Darcy Blais (Julie) and Melanie Limoges (Shawn). Also from Sudbury; Jeff Gouchie (fiancé Caitlyn), Gregg Gouchie and Meaghan Gouchie. Predeceased by her sisters Delia Larocque (late Frank), Germaine Pharand (late Ernest) and by her brothers Zéphyr (late Anna), Armand (late Rita), Mathias (Jeanette of Sudbury), Rémi (Cécile of Kitchener). Youngest sister will be sadly missed by Angie Malette (late Ray) of Sudbury, Claire Lalonde-Poirier (lates Romeo and André) of Val Caron, Lucy (Lucille) Beauchamp (late Yves) of Sudbury, Eddy (Joyce) of Birch Island and Jett (“Lucy” Lucienne) of Sudbury. Her many nieces, nephews and friends will miss her loving, charming and charismatic presence. Fun loving, she loved to sing and dance. Learned to jive at an early age with one of her sisters and learned to tap dance with one of her brothers. Her best dances shared with her lifelong partner Rudy. Rena worked as a secretary for a number of years for the separate school board at schools throughout the city and the valley. After leaving the school board, she went into new ventures and became a member of the S.B.P.W. – a creative entrepreneur and manufacturer in Greater Sudbury. Rena and her husband have been known for the bridal shop businesses they ran together, for their introduction and design of uniforms for students of Collège Notre-Dame. Because of the artistic talents she kindly shared in a helpful way over the span of twenty years at Barnwood Designs & Décor, they soon developed a large clientele. Her presence and smile will be sadly missed in the Rainbow Center. The family would life to thank all those who gave their love and support. Special thanks for the excellent care given by Dr. Julie Bowen, Dr. L. Pitre, Dr. Mary Olsten, Dr. C Pun and Dr. R. Singh. Thank you to nurses Suzanne, Janice, Nathalie, Ginette and nurses of HSN South Tower 4th and 5th floors. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury, Friday, November 4, 2016 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St-Jean-de-Brébeuf Church with Father Jolicoeur.
