Katulka, Bohdan 'Bob'

In Loving Memory of Bohdan “Bob” Katulka Bohdan Katulka was born in Wola Senkova, Ukraine, the oldest child of Maria and Volodymyr Katulka. After attending school in his hometown, he went to a boarding school in Yavoriw to complete secondary education. At that time the 2nd World War was raging in his homeland and circumstances forced him to begin a challenging journey which ultimately brought him to Italy and the United Kingdom. Bohdan emigrated to Canada in 1953. While still in England Bohdan studied the emerging technology of radio and electronics. On his arrival in Canada he continued his studies at Ryerson obtaining a diploma in the field of electronics. This allowed him to embark on a career in the field of radio and television sales and service in his own business (Mobile Radio &Television – TV and Stereo House) which he operated for 50 years. Bohdan loved to play tennis, hunt, fish and travel. He actively participated in the Ukrainian community in Sudbury and Toronto as a member of the Ukrainian Cultural Centre, as a soloist in the Luna-Lysenko and Prometheus (Orion) choirs and Bilohorscha Camp in the summer. Bohdan leaves behind his wife Lydia of 42 years. A daughter Susan (John Downey), two sons Andrew (Mary) and Stephen (Carmen). Grandchildren Sarah, and Jay Downey, Wesley (Melanie), Stephen (Dana) and Jeremy Katulka (Jessica); Great Grandchildren MacKenzie and Everleigh Katulka and Sullivan Downey as well as former wife Edith. Also, in Ukraine Bohdan leaves a sister, Slava Drobot, nieces Lida Romaniuk, Volodya Cehelski (Petro) as well as nephew Slavik Drobot (Oksana) and their children Chrystyna, Natalia and Serhei. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call 2-4 p.m.; 6 - 8 p.m. Friday with Panakhyda at 7:00 p.m. Friday) Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 40 Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury Saturday, October 8th, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Civic Cemetery. The family extends our heartfelt thanks to the staff at HSN including Dr. Cano, Dr. Singh and family physician Dr. Krawczuk, as well as caring staff in Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ukrainian Seniors' Centre, St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church or Health Sciences North Foundation would be appreciated.
