Purcell, A. George 'Bert'

In Loving Memory of George Albert “Bert” Purcell Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he moved to Ontario in 1965. Bert worked for Falconbridge Limited for 30 years before retiring in 2000. He was a union activist for over 30 years, and on the Executive Boards of Mine Mill Local 598/CAW, the Local 598/CAW Retirees Chapter and the Sudbury and District Labour Council. Bert’s union activities are too numerous to mention, but has been involved on many committees, organizing different events. His smile, stories and sense of humour will be missed. Predeceased by his wife Sharon Purcell (nee Burke). He is survived by daughters Michelle Lewis (nee Purcell) and Melanie Purcell. Grandchildren, Devin Purcell (friend Candace Coursol), Erin Lewis and Emma Lewis. Great-grandchild Violet Purcell. Predeceased by his parents Albert and Viola Purcell and sisters Ruby, Rose and Dolly. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call 2-4; 6-8 P.M. Monday and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday) Funeral Prayers in the R.J. Barnard Chapel Tuesday, October 11th, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. Cremation with interment in Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison Vale Hospice would be appreciated.
