In Loving Memory of James MacKay Thomson (Gentleman Jim) 1936 – 2015 It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that the family and loved ones of James MacKay Thomson announces his passing peacefully at home with his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Bola Thomson. Proud father of Susan Jane, Patricia, James predeceased (Jodie), Brenda predeceased and Janet “Jenny” and sadly missed by their mother Susan Elizabeth. Cherished grandfather of Alex, Grace, Keenan and Braedan. Dear father in law to Ruth. Loving son of Janet (MacKay) and Thomas Galloway Thomson both predeceased and twin brother Thomas predeceased. Dear uncle of Terry predeceased, Gary and Bradley (Jim) and brother in law to Patrick predeceased and Sheila. Great uncle of Christina, Carter, Jeff and John. Jim was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1967. He worked at INCO from 1967 – 1998. He started as a ventilation engineer and moved into production as General Foreman and then Superintendant and completed his career as Mine Manager. He was a member of the Professional Engineers. Jim played soccer for many years and was a ardent fan, his team was the Hearts of Midlothian. Jim became a Mason in 1992. He was a member of Bethel Lodge AF & AM 699 and belonged to Tuscan Chapter of the York Rite. He was a Past Worshipful Master of the Lodge and served as District Deputy Grand Master in 2002. He was a member of the Scottish Rite 33 Degree Member. Memorial Visitation at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call 6-8 P.M. Thursday with a Masonic service at 7:00 P.M. Thursday under the auspices of the Bethel Lodge AF & AM #699) Memorial Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel Friday, August 7th, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Civic Cemetery In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northeastern Cancer Center or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
