LEAHY, Ewana (Fleury)

In Loving Memory Of Ewana Leahy (nee Fleury) 84 years. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ewana Leahy (nee Fleury) surrounded by her family at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario. Born June 23, 1931 to Geneva (nee Ranger) and Tommy Fleury in Chapeau, Quebec (both predeceased). Beloved wife of Douglas (predeceased) and mother of Danny (Gisel Godon), Donna Gendron (Randy), Pat (predeceased), Raymond (Lori), Francis (predeceased), Linda Lang (Mark), Bonnie Christakos (Peter), and Michael. She was a cherished grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren + one soon to arrive. Mom was raised in Chapeau with 5 brothers and sisters before moving to Val Caron to raise her own family. Raising 8 children reflected the strong spirit she carried and shared with those who were part of her life. After 40 years in the Sudbury region she relocated to Barrie, Ontario to be with her family who had settled in the area. Truly embracing her opportunities to travel she cherished her times exploring many tropical destinations before her big heart slowed her down. Her love of singing, dancing and country classics will forever be remembered as her endearing trait - she surely missed her calling! A woman who touched so many over her 84 years, will be missed but never forgotten. A lady of great faith, she is now in good hands reunited with her loved ones who went before. Resting at Lougheed Funeral Home, Hanmer/Capreol Chapel, 4605 Michelle Dr., at Hwy 69 N., Hanmer Thursday and Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM Funeral Mass at St. Kevin’s Church, 4610 St. Therese St., Val Therese on Saturday, July 18th, 2015 at 11 AM Interment in the Valley East Cemetery In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Maison Vale Hospice.
