It is with heavy hearts we regretfully announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and friend Merle Darlene Martin. She is joining loved ones in heaven, loving husband Jim, Sisters Gwen and Margaret, son-in law David.  She is survived and missed by Sister Lillian (Bob), Children Wallene, Darcy (Jamie), Shawnda (Pat), Lorrie (Glen), Peri (Tom), Bruce (Cheryl), Ron (Bonnie); Grandchildren Brandy (Trevor), Blair, Ryan, Derek (Colleen) Cailynn, Sasha, Kendra, Dawn (Kevin), Scott, Ian (Natasha), Robbie, Jesse and Sandra Great Grandchildren Adam, Matthew, Emily, Samantha, Andrew, Brodie, Kian, Alanna, Camden, Kaylee, Anora; and many nieces, nephews and good friends. Merle, or also known as Sandy moved to Ontario from MB to start her family, where she later found the love of her life and business partner. They settled their family and business in French River. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Anniversary Branch 591 in Britt Ontario. Merle had a big heart and strong mind and touched the lives of many, especially in her active work in politics, many community and service groups. Known to most affectionately as the dragon lady, she raised her family with love and strength. She enjoyed music and was a natural with the ivory keys, outdoor life and family celebration. After the passing of her true love, Merle found her last remaining days living at Extendicare York where she continued her legacy of community spirit. There will be a family memorial in the summer of 2015. In memory of Sandy donations to HSN-Nephrology. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
