CIMINO, Giuseppe

The light of his family’s life, Giuseppe was born November 28th, 1942 in Acquafredda, Italy, to parents Guerino (predeceased) and Maria Cimino. Giuseppe was a hard-working family man who took great pride and joy in everything he did. The oldest of five children, his work ethic started at a young age, by accepting the responsibility of helping his family in Italy. In 1964 he married the love of his life, Palmerina. Shortly after, he was called to serve in the military, which he did without hesitation. Upon his return they were blessed with the arrival of their first son and it was here that Giuseppe decided he wanted to provide a better life for his family and immigrated to Canada. Giuseppe worked in the construction field for a short period of time, but it was in 1968 where he began his career as an underground miner for INCO, where he served the company faithfully for over 30 years. In 1975, the family suffered the tragic loss of their young son Frankie. His memory lives on through his siblings and family. Giuseppe was an avid hunter, he took great pride in his gardening and enjoyed playing Bocce with his friends every Thursday night at the Caruso Club. Every chance he had, Giuseppe tried to instill his Italian traditions and roots in his family, especially his grandchildren who were the focus point of his life. Giuseppe leaves behind his soul mate and beautiful wife of 49 years, Palmerina Cimino. His children were his life and he was very proud of all their accomplishments. He leaves behind his children, Guerino (Maria), Johnny (Sheila), Frankie (predeceased) and Maria (Pietro Mastroianni). Giuseppe’s legacy will forever live on through his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Devin, Alex, Giovanni, Sydney, Julia and Stefano. He also leaves behind his sisters and brother, Giovanna (Nicola), Rosina (Francois), Giovanni (Sabrina) and predeceased by his sister Rachela (Tony). Also mourning his loss are his sisters and brothers in law Giovanna (Francesco), Giuseppe (Giovanna), from Italy and Maria (Santo) from Sudbury. Giuseppe leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Sudbury, Italy, New Brunswick and Australia. Fondly remembered by special friends Pasquale and Cathy Folino, Luigi and Concetta Buttarella, Anita and Alex Boyle, Frank and Wanda Nocita and many more. Many thanks go to Bayshore nurses Angie and Christina who made sure our father was well cared for and was treated with dignity and respect. The family would also like to thank our amazing neighbours, the Quinn Family, the Prevost Family, and the Mansourian Family for all their support, kindness and generosity during this difficult time.
