MANNINEN, A. Miriam

It is with great sadness that Richard Manninen and family announce the passing of Arlene at her residence in Sudbury in her 67th year. Loved mother of Melanie Manninen (predeceased 2010), Allan Manninen (wife Lisa) of Stittsville and Diana Manninen of Sudbury. Grandmother of Chelsea, Ethan, Maxwell and Joshua. Daughter of the late Viljo and Toini Liinamaa both predeceased. Arlene leaves behind her sister Aira (Antero) Rauhanen and brother Arvo Liinamaa. Siblings Arvi Liinamaa, Aatos Liinamaa, Arne Liinamaa, Allan Liinamaa, Aura (Bill) Koivo, Arthur (Claire) Liinamaa, and Arnold (Betty) Liinamaa all predeceased. In her earlier years Arlene was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where she participated in the Lutheran choir and taught Sunday School. While living in Beaver Lake Arlene taught Sunday School and was involved with a youth group. Arlene worked at Laurentian University, the Sudbury Regional Planning Board and later for Home Care. In past years a struggle with health issues prevented Arlene from enjoying all the good things in her life but she chose to remain very independent, living on her own. Arlene is missed by both the Liinamaa and Manninen families. Rest in peace Arlene. A memorial service will be held at the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St., Sudbury, Ontario on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1pm. (Friends may gather in the chapel after 12:45pm Saturday) In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Warm Hearts or the charity of your choice. Burial in the Beaver Lake Cemetery at a later date.
