D'APPOLONIA, Lenore 'Nora'

In loving memory of Lenore (Nora) D’Appolonia, 89 years, at Health Sciences North with her family present at her bedside. From early childhood she lived her entire life in Capreol, Ontario. After graduation from high school, with two gold medals, she assumed a primary role in the bakery (D’Apps) established by her father, predeceased 1944. Her mother Tarcisia, predeceased 1986, also worked in the bakery along with two brothers, Anthony and Peter predeceased in 1973 and 1975 respectively. She has three sisters, Mary of Burlington, ON; Yvette Lane of Sudbury (husband Gilles predeceased 2000) and Violet Mazzuca of Capreol (husband Val); and a brother, Bert, of Fargo, North Dakota. Sadly missed by nieces Louise, Mary Ann, Nancy and Suzanne and their families. Her loyal companions and therapeutic friends were her current dog “Paddy” and previous dog “Randy”. Volunteer work was an important part of Lenore’s life. She was a devoted volunteer at Our Lady of Peace Parish at which she was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers. In addition, she was for many years and up to the present time a coordinator of the Prayer Line for sick parishioners. Lenore was a life time member of the Catholic Women’s League of Our Lady of Peace site. In a recognition of Lenore in November 2005 by the Lougheed Family and Staff it was written “She was a dedicated volunteer over the past 15 years helping to convene Our Lady of Peace Parish Christmas Tea. Lenore’s hard work and leadership made the ‘Italian Table’ an annual success for the Tea.” Lenore volunteered to take care of office matters and in particular the finances of Our Lady of Peace parish for over 20 years. Lenore was a devoted volunteer for the Greater Sudbury Police Service and the Capreol Storefront Office. She received recognition of 20 years of volunteer service in 2010. Lenore always had a cordial smile for people she met and always enjoyed visiting with friends. She was a deeply religious person with a strong faith in her religion.
