SUTHERLAND, ROSEANNE

December 17, 2012 94

SUTHERLAND, ROSEANNE CLARA PATRICIA (NÉE BOUSFIELD) Ma got really tired ten days ago when at which time, she had to lay down her burden at 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon, at Leamington Hospital on Wednesday the 5th day of December, 2012. She had lived 94 years. She was born of Reginald Michael and Mabel Bousfield (née Baird) on October 22nd 1918, at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Loving mother of Michael (Sudbury) and Robert (Leamington). Married to and predeceased by Denis Carpmael in 1941. Also predeceased by both parents, beloved husband Alexander Bruce in 1977, brother Michael Bousfield, 2012, Cornwall, England, stepdaughter, Mary Jane, Step-sons; Jock (Jill) and David. Fondly remembered by family members Lindy, Tina, Peter, Cass, Dawn, Nic, Sarah, Freya, Lucie, Kim, Sylvi, Jennifer, Geoffrey, Diane, Ian, Joan, Gwen, Cathy, Libby and long time friend Mary. Very early on in life Mum had to contend with the Spanish flu. She was sent to England to be educated at boarding school and raised by her Aunt Rosa and family at Liverpool, Harbord Rd. Before the war, she and two other girls ran a babysitting class for little ones, studied ballet and fashion design. During the war joined the Land Army to help on the farms. She was one of the fortunate ones. Once after having just left friends in a London restaurant it was bombed. After the war Mum married Bruce (“Suds“) a Cdn. soldier in 1948 in Toronto and settled in Sudbury for 58 years. She was very active in the community; Home + School, I.O.D.E, War Brides.... Ma loved animals, especially dogs (Monty, Rocky, Blackie) and horses. Roseanne enjoyed cooking (curries), reading, drawing, gardening, travelling, both near and far, and also loved a good party and I might add, graciously, put up with a few of mine. Mum was very proud to be English. She was my 'Fair Lady'. She quietly lived her last remaining years in Leamington, Ontario with her caring son Bob. She loved her sons dearly and we will forever, love you, Ma, and may God bless you.
