MERCER, Elsie Lavina - In loving memory of Elsie Lavina Mercer (nee Fifield). Born April 14th, 1932, passed away at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian site on Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 at 77 years. Born in Bell Island, Newfoundland, she was the loving daughter of Jack Fifield and Violet (Boyd) Fifield (predeceased). She was the cherished wife of Gordon Mercer, who shared a marriage of 60 years. Elsie will be sadly missed by her 4 children; Wayne Mercer (wife Linda), Judy Kilby (husband Brian), Marilyn Chenier (husband Maurice) and daughter Brenda Moore (nee Mercer). She was the best grandmother to Tracy Kilby, Sheri Slater (husband Scott), Beverly Allen (husband Jody), Melissa Chenier (partner Noah), Courtney and Ashley Moore. She also leaves behind 8 great grandchildren. Also survived by her 3 sisters; Mildred Kavanagh, Lillian Rees and Diane Puddester Elsie was a well respected member of St. Alban's Church in Capreol, where she actively participated in the Church's ministries and fellowship. Her main hobby was knitting. She spent many of her last weeks making sure that her family had an abundance of scarves to stay warm. Elsie's memory will live on within many hearts and souls!
