HOULE, Carmel - (Sir Knight of Assembly St-Jacques) - The family announces with sorrow, his death in Sudbury, Friday, December 11, 2009 at the age of 82 years. Son of the late Albert and of the late Gabrielle (née Frappier) Houle. Husband of the late Yvonne Houle (née Paquette). Loving father of Richard Houle (Jeannette), Carmen Leduc (Jean), Michel Houle (Léonne) all of Val Caron, Hélène Landry (Bruce McTiernan) of Val Thérèse, Monique Gies (Larry) both of Sudbury and André Houle (Colette) of Kitchener. Dear brother of Edgar Houle (Georgette), Léo Houle and Alberte Robert all of Sudbury, Fernand Houle (Darlene) of Elliot Lake, Thérèse Frappier (late Denis) of Val Caron and Rita Arseneault (late Alcide) of Blezard Valley. Predeceased by his brothers Émile (Annie of Sudbury), Aurelien (Thérèse of Hanmer) and his sisters Lina Mocion (late Laurier), Délia Coutu (Marcel) - of Blezard Valley and Laurette Tremblay (late Léo). Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Lisa, Michelle, Brian, Jennifer, Ryan, Angèle, Krystal, Sarah, Kendra, Brittney, Alycia and his great- grandchildren Amelia, Xavier, Ethan and Emma. Lovingly remembered by his close nephew Hubert Moncion (Jeanne) of Hanmer. Carmel was retired from Inco after 22 years of services. He will be remembered for having been an entrepreneur by most: In 1965, he built and operated, with his beloved wife, M&M grocery store in Blezard Valley and in 1965, he built and operated with his dear family the Northland Bowling Alley located in Val Caron. His pastime was buying houses to then sell them. Carmel was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in the 3rd degree, council 5005 and of the 4th degree, Assembly St-Jacques, Hanmer and a School Board Trustee with Notre-Dame-du- Rosaire School, Blezard Valley. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E. (at Notre-Dame), Sudbury, Monday from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Notre-Dame du Rosaire Church, Blezard Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations (by cheque only) to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated.
