Blair, Oliver

November 24, 2009 71

BLAIR, Oliver Boyce - (1938-2009) On Sunday, November 22nd, 2009, my cherished husband and best friend, finally gave up his courageous, long hard fought battle with numerous health issues, peacefully cradled in my arms and surrounded by his treasured children and grandchildren. He passed away on his final journey, in peace at last, with the love honour and dignity that he so deserved, thanks to the prayers of many friends and the incredible compassion and loving care, given him on his short stay at A.R.C.H., which our family considers “A small piece of heaven” staffed by earth angels. Left to carry on his legacy and to cherish his sweet memories are his loving wife and partner Joan, his beloved children, Cheryl McGill (Charles) of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Cindy Blair (Ken) of Cambridge, ON, Brent Blair (Marilena) of Sault Ste. Marie and Tracey Morley of Sault Ste. Marie; his precious grandchildren Christopher Timony of Minniapolis, MN, Heather Timony of Marquette, MI, Sonnie Morley, Madison Blair, Garrett Blair and Ben Giles of Cambridge. Boyce is predeceased by his mother and father Dr. John Freeman and Marika Blair of London, ON. His family is so proud to share with the world what a very special person he was. Many of you will remember, because through your generosity you were a part of his dream of facilitating a much needed piece of medical equipment (the cell separator). A reality, when in 1981 from his hospital bed he spearheaded a campaign with the help of his wonderful, respected oncologist, soon to be wonderful friend, the infamous Dr. David Walde, we will treasure forever the gift of his genius allowing Boyce's family 29 extra years. There were many other acts of charity that Boyce performed anonymously; these will remain that way, as he wished. Because of his unselfish giving of himself, we his family would kindly ask you in his memory, as you this community once responded to his call in “81” for the financial support, needed to succeed during the cell separator campaign, request that you, each and every family whether it be just a dollar, donate to A.R.C.H. (Algoma Residential Community Hospice) a facility this is second to none and is a Godsend to this community, operated by only a small funding from the government and relies on donations. Our deepest gratitude to his numerous physicians and caregivers, our friends and neighbours and to those who took the time to put a smile on his face. A family celebration of his life and remarkable love has already been celebrated. His work on earth is done! Arrangements entrusted to NORTHWOOD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758). www.northwoodfuneral.com Those we love don't go away They walk beside us every day Unseen unheard but always there Still loved, still missed, and always there. Of you who have a father Cherish him with care For you will never know The heartache Till you see the empty chair.
