MacDONALD, Joseph Alexander Gabriel - November 15, 1927 to November 20, 2009. Quietly passed away at Maison Vale INCO Hospice in Sudbury Ontario surrounded by family on November 20th, 2009, Joseph A. MacDonald was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Howard) and four of his five siblings, sisters Rosemarie, Jean, Nancy and brother Paul. Left to mourn, his brother Jack and his children Janice (John), Susan, John (Diane), Mike (Nicole), and his much loved grandchildren, Michelle (Yulian), David, Steven, Kevin (Adrienne), Amy (Corey), Ian, Neil, Brian and Allison and his great grandchildren Arwyn, Samuel, Elizabeth and his many nieces and nephews. Having moved his young family from Toronto to New Liskeard in 1954, Joseph began an extensive career in the automotive industry and eventually relocated to Sudbury in 1971. He served on the New Liskeard Roman Catholic School Board and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. After his retirement, Joe volunteered for ten years with the Greater Sudbury Police Services. Those who knew him best would agree that he was a man of few words yet his actions spoke volumes. He inspired his children with his quiet acceptance of the challenges that came his way but it is his unwavering faith that remains the legacy that he leaves behind. Service to be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 23rd, 2009 at the Holy Trinity Church in Englehart, Ontario with visitation at 9:00 am at the McDonald Funeral Home, Englehart, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Maison Sudbury Hospice.
