Humphrey, Alice

November 23, 2009 86

HUMPHREY, Alice Louise - On Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Westburn Manor. Born in Sudbury on March 9, 1923, Alice was the daughter of John Russell Wainwright and Ada Louise Wainwright (née Routh), loving sister of the late Routh Wainwright and Eleanor Wainwright. Loving wife of the late Hugh John Humphrey. Loving mother of Chris (Edith), Brian (Karen) and the late Frances (Rob). Cherished grandmother of Meredith, Alexandra and Joëlle; Matthew and David; Erin, Jillian and Tom; and four delightful great-grandchildren. After the passing of Hugh John, Alice served many years as a receptionist for a local orthodontist and volunteered for a decade with the Etobicoke Meals on Wheels program of the Red Cross. The family would like to express its appreciation to Marsha Fleischer and the staff and nurses of Westburn Manor, for their attentive care and support. The family wishes especially to thank Josephine Mensah for her good-natured compassion and engaging spirit. Josephine had Alice dancing with her in the hallway even the week before her passing. Friends may call at the TURNER & PORTER BUTLER CHAPEL, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke (between Kipling and Islington Aves.) from 7-9 pm on Monday. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel, on November 24, 2009, at 10 am. Reception to follow. Those who wish to do so are encouraged to donate in memory of Alice to the charity of their choice.
