WARD, Ivy Ruby (nee Lyle) - In loving memory of Ivy R. Ward, 84 years, who passed away suddenly at home, Sunday, November 1, 2009 in Elliot Lake. Daughter of the late John and Edna Mary Lyle (nee Hawthorn). Ivy was born in Sudbury July 14, 1925 and attended school in both Sudbury and Rigaud, Québec. Beloved sister of Andrewine (Ina) Armitage of Sudbury. Predeceased by her other siblings: Edna Mary Archibald (David) of Scotland, Euphemia (Effie) Major (Carl) of Dorion, Québec, Archibald Lyle of Cobalt, William Lyle of Sudbury and June Delaurier of Windsor. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews: Stuart Armitage (Ann) of Sudbury, Corla (predeceased) and Alexander Stuart of Scotland, Lyle Armitage (predeceased) and Ina Rae Beynon (Ted) of Sudbury, Lynne Dinnen (Bob) of Kirkland Lake, Rhonda Mills (Jack) of Ottawa and Catherine Leonard (George) of London, Ontario. Kindred spirit to twins: Heather Rae Galbraith, Laurie Lynne Reaburn (nee Beynon) and great aunt to twenty-two great nieces and nephews. During World War II, she was an Army Stenographer attaining the rank of Sergeant in the Canadian Women's Army Core (C.W.A.C.). Ivy lived in Sudbury, Montreal and Mississauga where she was employed as an Executive Secretary in several Pharmaceutical Companies. Ivy was a lifelong learner who enjoyed Shakespeare, Art History, languages and travel. She was an enthusiastic teacher and supporter of enhancing literary skills. Fond memories of Ivy will include her sharp wit, wonderful sense of humour, etiquette, elocution and editing skills. Private celebration of life services were held in Elliot Lake and Sudbury. Memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the ELLIOT LAKE FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATION CENTRE (36 Ontario Ave).
