ZYMA, Peter - (1940-2009) - Passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2009, at the Welland General Hospital, at the age of 68. Beloved husband of Lina (nee Grenier) and much loved father of Raymond (Cheryl), Richard (Marianne) and Léandre (Lise). Cherished grandfather of Danielle, Steven, Francesca, Melissa and Brandon. Honorary grandfather to Scott and Candice. Special Poppa to Kassandra, Kaitlin, Lucas, Tommy and Caitlin. Dear brother of Olga Zembrzycki, Steve and Georgette Zyma . Predeceased by his parents Peter and Annee (Sydor), brother-in-law Steve Zembrzycki, sister Barbara, brother-in-law Tony (Kruk), brother Mike and his wife Rita, and his beloved uncle Paul. Also predeceased by Lina's parents, Louis Grenier and Yvette Boisvert, and his much- loved godchild Hughes. His many nieces, nephews and godchildren will deeply miss him. He will forever be remembered by his brothers and sisters-in law. Peter will be dearly missed by his special friends Brian and Lucy. He was grateful for his many close friends, colleagues, and his fishing, bingo and euchre buddies. Born in Sudbury, Peter first taught in Burlington where he met and married Lina, his wife of 43 years. Eventually, they moved to Welland where he would teach for the next 31 years. Peter was an active member in his teaching federation as well as a few social clubs. During his retirement, Peter enjoyed gardening, woodworking, card playing, life at the cottage and his cats and dogs. Peter‘s generosity knew no bounds. He was a compassionate, gracious loving man whose time on earth was too short. He will be remembered by all who were fortunate to have known him. “Vechna Pomyet“ (Forever Memory) Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial celebrating the life of Peter will take place on Saturday October 31, 2009 at 2:00 pm, Best Western, 300 Prince Charles Dr., Welland. 905-732-0922.
