LANE, James Arthur - In Loving Memory of James Arthur Lane, March 15, 1928 - October 10, 2009. Jim Lane, a resident of Gore Bay, died at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, St. Joseph's Site, on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the age of 81 years. He was born on Barrie Island, son of the late Arthur and Clara (Runnalls) Lane. Jim had farmed for many years on Barrie Island, and also had been Clerk Treasurer for Barrie Island for many years. He worked for Bordie Noble for 30 years. Jim also helped for many years at the funeral home, and was ready to go anywhere, anytime when he received a phone call. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and volunteering. Jim spent countless hours working in the community, especially with the Lions Club and was known far and wide. Everyone who met Jim, probably had bought a Lion's Calendar from him. Dearly loved husband of Madeline (Rumney) Lane. Loved father of Vivian Chipman, husband Curtis of California, Marilyn King, friend David of Sudbury, Linda Pindar, husband Ivan, Glen Lane, wife Valerie of Waterloo, Marie Firlotte of Cambridge and daughter in law Evelyn Lane. Predeceased by son Ross. Very proud grandfather of Sherry Young, husband Andrew, Christopher King, Brian Lane, Kaysha and Daelyn Pindar, James Lane Jr., and Heather and Megan Firlotte, and great grandson Macarthur Young. Dear brother of Evelyn Lane of Barrie Island, (husband Lloyd predeceased), Rev. Bessie Lane of Whitby, Maudie Powell, husband Barry of Kanata, and Bob Lane and his wife Debby of Kingsville. Also survived by sister in law Violet Schmidt, (husband Walter predeceased) of Owen Sound and brother in law Walter Waddell, wife Katherine of Collingwood. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the CULGIN FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 11.00 a.m. with Pastor Maxine McVey and Pastor Erwin Thompson officiating. Interment in Gordon Cemetery. In remembrance, donations to the Lions Club Medical Equipment Fund, Lyons Memorial United Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
