GIBSON, Mark William - passed away with family by his side at Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the age of 78. He was born in Sudbury, Ontario and was raised and educated in Thunder Bay. Mark began his career in the construction field in 1950 at the Port Arthur Shipbuilding Company. He continued his trade at Great Lakes Steel, Dominion Bridge of Toronto, Tamarron Construction and numerous other firms. He was highly respected as a welder, ironworker and high rigger. Mark retired from Canron Inc. as a Construction Superintendent having worked on many specialized projects including the construction of the CN Tower in Toronto. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren enjoying hours at the rink, barbeques, fishing and camping at Kab Lake and taking trips with his trailer. Mark is survived by daughter Linda (Willy), sons Bill (Karen), Jack (Elsie), and TJ (RaeAnne). Is he also survived by Norma Gibson, Maila Taylor, Sheila McCormack and grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, Mark will be missed by friends and family from Sudbury, Janet Gibson, Donny and Donna Malette, Myrna Antoine, Jack and Mark Gibson. He was predeceased by son Kelly Thomas, parents William and Emma Anne Gibson, brother Jack and sister-in-law Rita. Cremation has taken place and a casual celebration of Mark's life will be held at the Army & Navy, 128 Simpson Street, Friday, October 16th from 4 pm till 8 pm if friends wish to drop by. If desired, donations to the Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association, Thunder Bay & District Humane Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
