LAFONTAINE, Peter Sr. - In loving memory of Peter Lafontaine Sr., 85 years, who passed away on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Sudbury Regional Hospital Memorial site. Beloved husband of Irene Lafontaine (nee Seguin) of Val Therese. Loving father of Elaine Kasabaski (Cliff), Joanne Train, John (Debbie), Mary Mackey (Frank predeceased), Ron (Carmen) and Peter (Monique). Cherished grandfather of 19 grandchildren, 21 + great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Dear brother of Eva Thomenson (Jack), Flory (Albert) Fricker and Marianne (Maurice) Laperierre. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Blanche Lafontaine, brothers Wilfred, Andrew (wife Pauline), sisters Rose Casgrove (Jay), Lena Panos (Gus) and Theresa Kennedy (Percy). Peter was a strong man of integrity, he was a good husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards and most of all he was a prankster. Peter was proud of having served his country for 4 years during World War II as a Brengun Carrier with the Queen's Own Rifle Regiment in France, Holland and in Germany where he was injured. Peter and family this year returned to Europe to participate in the 65th anniversary D-day. Resting at the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Funeral Mass will be held at Ste Marguerite d'Youville Church, Val Therese on Thursday October 1, 2009 at 11 am. Prayers under the auspices of the R.C.L. Branch 76 at 7:30 pm Wednesday. Interment at Valley East Cemetery. (Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm).
