SHOVELLER, Walter John (Jack) - The family of Walter John (Jack) Shoveller are sad to announce his sudden, accidental death on Wednesday, August 5th in his 66th year. He is survived by his loving wife Krysta (Ignacy), daughter Anna Kate and her husband David DiCenzo, and mother Beatrice Evelyn (Dolly). He was predeceased by his father Herbert. His sister Beth Hreljac and husband Vic, brother Herb and wife Joanne, brother Bob (Brock) and wife Klara, brother-in-law Ted Ignacy and wife Aili and brother-in-law Don Ignacy, plus many nieces and nephews will greatly miss his fun-loving energy and endless stories. Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Jack went on a hockey scholarship to Brigham Young University, where he earned a history degree, to Ryerson University for a photography degree and to teachers college in Toronto. He taught in at Beamsville Secondary School in Beamsville, and Sir John A. Macdonald and Barton secondary schools in Hamilton. He retired in 2000. Jack/Wally/Shovy will be missed dearly by his many friends, golf mates, cousins, former students and colleagues, neighbours and hockey pals. It is amazing how many people swear he was their best friend. A celebration of his life will be held at Ruthven Park National Historical Site on Saturday, August 15th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Donations in his memory can be made to Lower Grand River Land Trust.
